Greetings all. A friend sent me this unusual tricky one. I have litte info about it apart from it growing in warm temperate regions. I suspect it’s a succulent I’m even baffled identifying its family Thanks
Indeed Daniel. It’s stumped my Australian wise owls. I’m leaning towards Crassulacea family Another colleague suspects distorted growth on a disbudded proteacea Another feels the leaves are phyllodes with nectaries on the margins. the original enquiry from was from a landscaping colleague who clearly knew how to distract a group of horticulturists for a week or so. stay tuned. We won’t give up
I am not sure, but resembles me Myrica gale, so maybe related to Myricaceae. Flowering Myrica rubra or something similar.
Thanks for letting us know. That's something I looked at, but I didn't see any match, all those pincushion things, moved on to Proteaceae, then got lost. Nice to know I was in the neighbourhood for a while anyway. Here are some similar plants I've found now, are giving me an idea of the connection and why I was hanging around there. This is a little similar: L. royenifolium: https://toptropicals.com/pics/garden/m1/Podarki7/Leucospermum_royenifolium591AlYak.jpg, though Wikipedia's photo for that name is entirely different. Here is one that is just species unknown: https://toptropicals.com/pics/garden/m1/Raznozwet3/Leucospermum_sp1661.jpg These leaves look similar, also species unknown, but it's on a page for L. cordifolium: https://toptropicals.com/pics/garden/m1/Raznozwet3/Leucospermum_sp1666.jpg A cordifolium cultivar 'Veldt Fire' : Leucospermum cordifolium 'Veldt Fire' #1 And this is on an unknown Leucospermum species page: https://toptropicals.com/pics/garden/m1/Raznozwet3/Leucospermum_sp1660.jpg Here's one with a name - L. witte-bergense: Leucospermum - Wikipedia
