My friend gave me several seedlings in the Spring. He said they were called "4 O'clocks". They are now blooming, some pink, others yellow. I don't know anything about them. Are they annuals or perennials, and can they be wintered over, here in Central Massachusetts?

They'll probably be reseeding annuals for you. In warmer climates they return from the roots every year.

Also called Marvel of Peru (Miabilis Jalapa)grow to around 24" loves heat ,slow to mature and as the name suggests the flowers open late afternoon.I grew these from seed in a large container and just started flowering profusely when we had an early frost and that was the end of them,so here in Western Canada we treat them as an annual,in warmer climates they are a perennial and produce deep tuberous roots.
