I would like to identify three different types of trees:

The first I believe is a young serbian spruce. The tree was 8 feet tall.

The second picture is the trunk of a maple. I couldn't get a good picture of the leaves, however they were decently large leaves.

The third tree I was thinking it was a hornbeam; however, now I don't think it is.

#1 yes, Serbian Spruce Picea omorika.

For #2, even a poor pic of the leaves would help (but if you can return and get a better pic, even more useful)

#3 looks like a Hamamelis or its relative Parrotia persica.

Narrowness and glossiness of leaves points to Parrotia.
