Help with IDing shrub/g. cover in East Vancouver

    This plant, which flowers in early April here in Vancouver, looks spectacular in front of a flowering Forsythia. The pic was taken just south of East 41st and Elliott, on the east side of Elliott. I'm having trouble identifying it, though. I'd like to plant some in my garden. Purple flower with yellow center. Please help!

    Looks to be Aubretia. This is the time of year when it looks it's best.
    It's actually a perennial ground cover.

    Next time you notice a plant you can't name in somebody's yard you could always try looking for it at nearby outlets. A common favorite like this one will often be present - in season - even at places like grocery and hardware stores etc.
