Looking for an ID for this tree. It had small fruits, but they were covered with a red powder. Is this as simple as some type of crab apple with a fungus? Or is it something else?

It looks like an Amelanchier alnifolia, its in the Rose family and related to Crab Apples and my guess would be its infected with cedar-apple rust?

My first guess is its Amelanchier, can anybody confirm this? I am not 100% sure.

An Amelanchier with a Gymnosporangium rust disease.
