Help with any of these would be appreciated.

    10. Probably a type of rush. Doesn't seem to match any of our New Zealand native species.
    11. Looks like some sort of Geum or Potentilla. Soft-stemmed, spring-flowering.
    12. A grass with distinctive seedheads.
    13. A type of holly? The golden flowers seem unusual.

I don't think it's Oplismenus compositus. I know that one and it has a very distinctive cross-banded effect to the leaf blade. It's also rather too tropical for where this was growing.

Could the yellow flowered Ilex looking plant be a mahonia instead? I don't know them myself, but have it in my head that yellow flower clusters and prickly holly looking leaves would possibly be a mahonia. I hesitate to mention them as I think people in the Pacific northwest of US and BC Canada would be more familiar with them. (And I don't know why.)

    Mahonia would have compound leaves.

Thanks Wendy! I knew I was stretching my imagination a bit. Too bad, because I still don't know which holly it might be. I've packed about 3k books by now, including all of my biology and nature stuff, prior to a move. Otherwise I'd be checking some of my field guides. Note to self: Consider library carts next time.

These flowers may have started white.....see bottom left quadrant of pic.
Flowers appear to be male which are past their best... withering, turning brown, dying and dropping off.
Maybe just giving the appearance of being yellow?
