I'm assuming this is invasive and/or non native as deer have not touched it. Found in Northern VA, Appalachian cove forest. Leaves are opposite, there are small spots on backside of leaves, and you can see flower stalks coming out from leaf axil area. The leaves are very small and the wood bits around it are fairly fine mulch so that gives relative size. Thanks for any id suggestions!
