Flowering shrub

    My neighbour here in Surrey, BC has this flowering large shrub in his front yard. If I'd ever seen it before, I don't remember .. but it looks like something I really ought to know. Can anyone identify it for me?

    Calycanthus. I don't know how to distinguish Calycanthus floridus from its hybrid Calycanthus x raulstonii 'Hartlage Wine'.
