Florida ornamental

    this is a tall ornamental in a large planting in Palma Sola Botanical Garden. Photographed in March.

    I think they're two different plants, Clerodendrum for the first, and Jatropha for the second.

    Oh, sorry, I was careless and mixed up images. The photo below is a closeup of the 'Clerodendrum' . I checked my Clerodendrum photos - this one's flowers, leaves & habit looks like a plant in Hawaii that I had tentatively identified as C. paniculata. Thoughts?

    Yes. It looks like Clerodendrum paniculatum. [Edited] - I don't know the differences between that and C. japonicum, and you can't really tell from a bunch of google images what they're showing you.

    Thank you Wendy. I just looked at foliage drawings of these two. Japonicum has a simple leaf while paniculatum's is somewhat tridentate. So the Florida plant would be be paniculatum by that criterion...
