Another from the Ecuadorean Andes

    Still at 3600 m and encountering plants well outside my experience. I would appreciate some guidance on this one, the fly gives an idea of scale.

    In case anyone is still interested (and I note many viewings of the photo) I am now informed that it is Senecio chionogeton.

    Interestingly, none of photographs of Senecio chionogeton available on the web show such large bracts around the flower head as in your photo.

    Thanks for the observation Andrey. Frankly, I don't know, but I was passing on the view of an Ecuadorean expert in these matters. Of course, we can all make mistakes.....
