I have had a number of mangoes grow to about 6 inches while still in water and then lose all their leaves and die. My son's theory is that they exhaust the nutrition in the seed and then give out, but the same thing happens when I plant them in soil. They are always indoors so the problem is not cold weather. Any ideas?
Lack of sufficient light and possibly a watermold seems most likely. In nature they'd be in full sun most of the day and would be in sandy well drained soils.
