Identification: Yellow slime in shower in Rhode Island Is it dangerous?

    Can anyone help me identify this ?mold?


    Daughter found in in her shower in Providence RI in an apartment she just move into (in shower)

    I googled and googled
    I think it is this
    Physarum polycephalum

    Hi William,

    Good googling - yes it looks like it is a slime mold, though I can't tell from the photo enough detail to be sure.
    Is it watery or firm to the touch? If the former, then likely a slime mold. There are a number of yellow slime molds: Physarum and Fuligo are possibles. Not a hazard, but does indicate dampness, so it may be worth investigating a source of an ongoing leak.
    If it is firm rather than watery, then likely a fungus.
