I have a Yellow Bird Magnolia which set a good number of flower buds in the fall. However, they hardly opened this spring and were covered with a brown marks and fell off if I touched them. Can anyone help me with this and tell me what it is and what I can do about it?
    Thanks

The rest is OK, just the flower buds were affected?

No, around the edge of the leaves is also brown and turning up. Also, I now seem to have some buds that seem Ok and are about to open. Will watch carefully.

    Search "magnolia bacterial blight".

The blight sounds accurate, it's like tomatoes when they first start to ripen and get blossum end rot and the tomatoe falls off the vine...That's the soil not enough calcium. I'd look into the soil with this problem and consider the blight as well.
