Male cones visible in the photos, the tree has female cones at the top, above the branches with male cones. These are somewhat visible as small green balls at the ends of the branches in the first image of the whole tree.
If the "vicious" winter - worst in over 50 years - being predicted occurs there will be no tree next year. Unless an adequate shelter is built around it.
Sad. But I see a hint of green on the undersides of the shoots, so it may not be completely dead. Any sign of sprouting low down on the main stem?
