Identification: witches butter?

    I am new to all of this, and trying to learn. I live in Morgan Hill California and took this picture today. Curious if it is witches butter or something else

    Yes you are correct it is witches butter, and that name is applied to a few different kinds of jelly fungi with similar appearance.
    If this was on hardwood it would likely be Tremella mesenterica and if it was on conifer, likely Dacrymyces chrysospermus.
