Hi Experts! 2 of my stalwart Japanese maples, planted in the same spots for over 15 years, are newly struggling. Winter here in western Massachusetts was volatile, with unusual temperature swings, relatively frequent high winds (with unprecedented amount of large and small twins downed) and rain and sparse snow ... Along with alot if rhodi damage reported everywhere, these 2 maples, my old reliables, have sparse leaf out and alot of die back. Is there anything I can do to support healing now? Thanks for any help in advance. Deb Ps. I am grieving because climate change has been obvious to gardeners and farmers for years, but this winter is the worst yet. These two trees are quite large and it is very upsetting to see this happening with them...in addition to what is happening in social-political arenas. With climate change, my garden is not the refuge for me it has been...please excuse me if this oversharing.... Anyway, hope you all are as well as can be!
