Does anyone know if the native range of white water lilies extends to the Peace Region? I'm in the Ft St John area and have always only seen yellow ones, but this year I found an extensive bed of white lilies in a wetland. Thanks.
I get a similar result here: CPNWH Search Results (pnwherbaria.org). So either nobody has collected herbarium material from the location you found and placed it with participating herbaria or what you saw was actually a different species. Or both.
I regretted not taking photos when they were in full bloom (next year), but a friend found a couple flowers and send me these photos. I also contacted a staff member at UBC, if specimens are required, I can easily collect them.
my mistake...originally I had seen a bed of white flowers and right away I thought "water lilies"....
It's Calla palustris. Which has been collected all over outlying areas of British Columbia. CPNWH Search Results (pnwherbaria.org)
