White Floating bugs with spider like legs

    Just noticed these bugs May 2009, they are everywhere. They appear to be falling from the oak trees and floating/flying whatever to the ground and once the hit the ground they just wiggle. If you touch once it is just like paste and the seem to melt away at your touch. I have not been bitten nor bothered by them just curious to know what they are and where they came from and what purpose they have. If anyone knows what these little things are please let me know.

    Some kind of wooly aphid ?

    That's what we thought but it the extra long hairs on it do not look like the woolly aphid, and it does not have wings or eyes that we can see
