I am growing a lot of plants from seed this year and would like to know when you think I should begin to fertilize the young plants. Also what kind or brand of fertilizer to you recommend? Are there any you can make on your own?

When I grow plants from seed I give them a weak solution of sea weed fertilizer once they get their second set of real leaves. They don't need fertilizer any sooner than that, and you risk burning the tender roots if you do. Sea weed fertilizer is a good all 'round one, you can get the concentrate at plant stores and then add it to your watering can.
