    Hi,

I live in the UK (North-West) and have bought bulbs, but it only says on the pack to plant them out early spring. Looking around the internet, some say that it is possible to plant them out in autumn, too. The bulbs I have already got some roots and I would like to plant them out as soon as I can, but don't want to damage them.
Would it be possible to plant them indoors into a pot and then move them outside once they have grown?
And if not, what month would be the best to plant them outside?

Thank you for your answers :)

I have problems here with lily of the valley when I put it in the open garden. I have resorted to putting the roots into a good composty pot and have a good patch. I think they could be planted now if you are going the pot direction but because I don't know your outside weather conditions some one else will need to advise. They are spring flowering. By the way are you sure they are Liley of the valley? Bulbs? As far as I know are not part of their structure but sort of rhizome roots

    Hello,

    thank you for your advice!

They are Lilly-of-the-valley, they are bulbs with roots (sorry, I don't know the right terms).
I guess I will plant them in pots and see first how the first batch comes along and if it works fine, do the same with the other two. The best bet seems to be to force them indoors.

Thanks again and a happy 2009!
