I purchased this tree about 5 months ago. It has been dropping quite a few leaves and now the green branches are turning brown. It seems like it's dying. It is positioned by the window and I water it once a week.

First, I don't know what type of tree/plant it is, so searching for tips has been difficult. Can anyone identify it? Is it dying? Help!

Looks as though it would be happier in a larger pot and with nice new soil. Also, a bit more light and moisture would be helpful. Should be OK.

Your Schefflera arbicola can also be cut back, preferably in the spring if it gets too large or leggy. New growth will grow near the cuts which will keep it more compact and bushy looking.
