I am considering buying some Semiarundinaria fastuosa ‘Viridis’ (coastal bamboo) to grow as a privacy screen in lined cedar planters near a fence. The bamboo would get full sun on the fence side but would be shaded from the back by a large cedar tree.

Would this variety grow in these conditions? I'm on mid Vancouver Island. I need something to grow tall and quickly.

For most pertinent responses describe the planters in more detail.

A quick search within this forum for posts since Dec 31/18 with key word “bamboo” yields a few threads that may help you

And Ron B is correct in asking further detail about containers

I screen shot a few threads so you can look up - esp about the so-called container (does bamboo know that word?!)

See images x 4 attached below

Meanwhile here is one of the threads to look up
What would you plant to screen this eyesore?
