Are the flower stalks on the Hens 'n Chicks able to grow into a new plant or do I simply dead-head them and throw them out? I'm talking about the long stalk you see... it was very pretty when the flowers were in bloom, but they're ready to come off now. All my Hens 'n Chicks did very well for their first year here!

ps. OMG I just noticed the weeds/groundcover that is growing underneath it... hate that stuff... will have to work on that tomorrow.

The most you can do is harvest the seeds, then dead head, (Or vise-versa) as it won't turn into a plant.

Pull them off. The hen ( or the chick) will die off when it has bloomed but there will b e lots more - doesn't take long.
