    Hi guys!

Can anyone out there identify this white, powdery, stuff that has appeared on my Hydrangea? (See photo).

Is it contagious, will it spread to other plants, what can I do to prevent it, should I cut off the infected bits and burn them, should I dispose of the entire plant, can it be treated?

    Help!!!

Best regards to one and all!

I will have another stab at it Daniel!

I'll reduce the photo size, that might do the trick!

    Regards,

    Ken

Yes, it's there (you should be able to see when a post has an attachment or not?) - but I've no idea about what the pest is (if it is indeed a pest).

Nope, it aint that, where this stuff is on the plant, there are no leaves, and the twigs are dead!

No sign of any aphids etc, therefore must be viral, bacterial or fungal?......Yes?

    Odd looking stuff though ennit?

    Best regards,

    Ken.

It may not be a pest Daniel, but the plant certainly does not like it!

As you can see form the photo, the twigs where this "Stuff" is on are dead!

    Best regards,

    Ken.

    Best regards,

    Ken.

Can't tell much from that photo, but your right those hydrangea don't like it. There are probably fungus that will grow like that, and there are probably insects that will create some sort of habitat like that.

Did you experiment by tearing some of this apart? Some close up pics would be interesting to see. Regardless, this must be removed and plants more then likely should be cut to the ground.

Good Luck, if you find out what it is please do post, Jim.
