These look like stinkhorn eggs: I suggest letting one of the eggs stay where it is growing naturally and see if something interesting bursts forth. cheers -frog
I've heard that some stinkhorn eggs are eaten, but I don't know what species or how they are prepared. The first step would be finding out the specific identity of your specimens. This would probably require examining an adult fruiting body ... But I'm really unfamiliar with stinkhorns as a group: Perhaps for someone more familiar they may be identifiable in egg form. I've eaten & enjoyed mature Dictyophora indusiata, but I don't know about the edibility of other stinkhorn species. cheers -frog
