We live alongside a small wetland in Langley. I discovered this little flower while walking the dog today but have no idea what it is. It reminds me of an orchid of some type. Sorry for the quality of specimen in the photo, it didn't like the 15 minute walk home.
Thank you, Debby! We've lived in the neighbourhood for 10 years and to be honest, because they're so tiny I'd never noticed them before. I didn't really want to pick one - I prefer to leave nature where it belongs, but didn't have a camera or my iPhone with me at the time. Since I don't walk that route every day, I didn't want to miss the opportunity to find out what it was though.
I saw them for the first time over by the soccer fields in Burnaby. Can't remember how I found out what they are named. Maddening not to know; very satisfying to have an answer.
