yes, that's a ponytail palm. (not really a palm). it's pretty darn old, too!! at least 20 years. they only have the very deliniated 'bulb' when they're very young.
Thanks Joclyn, I didnt know that. 20 years!!! and still in a 5 inch pot at the store. How big should I go with its new pot? Am guessing a sunny warm location is what it need.
Joclyn, thanks for the info. If you don't mind, why just a inche or 2 more? And not way more to give more room for the roots? I don't understand. Also, do some plants need to be in over 2 inches increase in pot size for repotting?
If you pot up too far then there will be alot of soil without roots that will hold water and set up conditions for root rot. Especially considering that ponytails dont like things too wet, this plant may suffer if the pot is too large.
