Hello. I am just making extra sure that this is a western white pine and not another type of pine? We found this tree in Stanley Park. It does have a grouping of 5 needles however I am wondering if it's Eastern Pine instead? Is there any Eastern Pine in Vancouver is just Western Pine?

Tough call from these pics - the cones visible in pic #3 could be either P. monticola or P. strobus. The short needle retention (only a couple of years) somewhat supports P. strobus, but isn't diagnostic. Closer pics, please!
Thanks everyone. We were fortunate to go to Cortes island and there is a white pine on a trail there. The tree is even labelled and it is very tall it must be old. We managed to collect samples from the ground. Can anyone confirm id of Western white pine?
