Hello. We planted a Weeping Willow two years ago. I've watered it alot the first year, and it made alot of progress and growth. Now, this summer, it's losing leaves, and they are turning yellow. Granted it's been 100* for most of the summer here in Kansas though.

Is it because of the heat?
    Not enough water?
Or, is it just losing leaves early this season?

Any help would be great, I hate to lose it.

likely it is response to heat and water stress.

Old leaves only yellowing and dropping would imply a moisture problem.

Yes- weeping willows need quite a bit of moisture. We have a 40+ year old tree. During droughts, it needs water, or its leaves turn yellow, and they drop - not just the first year.

Thanks for the responses. I will start watering it more often now. Maybe let the hose run on it for and hour or two a day, and see if it comes out of it. Just hope it's not too late to save it. Thanks!

Dig test hole next to it to check moisture. A common problem with new trees is the original rootball being in a different material than the soil on the new site, resulting in undesirable effects on movement of water into and out of the rootball (or planting hole, where backfill has been liberally amended).
