I'm doing a personal art project, and I'm looking for a specific piece of wood by mid-April. I'm not sure who to call or contact, so even if you have contact information you could offer I'd be grateful!

    Characteristics:
    - about 6-12" diameter, 1-2' length log section. Any species tree.
    - evident (visible) insect damage (boring / tunnelling) to the wood just underneath the bark. Ideally, the damage is all over.
    - there shouldn't be any insects in the wood

    Thanks if you can help!

You might want to look through the driftwood which are washed up on the beach. I've noticed a lot of insected damaged wood on local beaches. It is illegal to take timber but would anyone bother if you took a little branch or two?
