My young variegated maple (planted this year) has begun displaying brown edges on its leaves. Also, it appears that something (small animal perhaps) has gnawed at the bottom of the trees' bark. What can be done???
How much of the bark has been gnawed? Does it completely encircle the trunk? Do you have any pictures of the damage that you can post?
The gnawing mark is very minor but has caused a little "sap" to leak from the trunk. I will try to post a photo.
