I'm sorry if my question is a bit strange, but I am writing a script at the moment and I want to place a syringe in the conservatory of an old British house, where plants are kept.
My question is, are there uses for a syringe in horticulture? Perhaps in watering certain kinds of soil for certain kinds of flowers? Or for pollination?
It would be extremely helpful if I could get a detailed answer, and thank you so much in advance.

    Hi,

no idea of the details, but I know of two uses.

    1. to inject alcohol (eg vodka or white rum) into a water melon to create an alcoholic fruit.

    2. to cheat in competitions to grow the largest pumpkin/marrow/ melon when water can be injected into the stem close to the fruit.

Syringes have been used to inject herbicides directly into weed stems. I know they have tried this with Japanese Knotweed using glyphosphate.

Thanks so much! If anyone can think of any other uses, I'd appreciate it. :)

How about inoculating fungal cultures or flasking orchids?
