I have a kentia palm that is six or seven years old, about three feet tall and very full and healthy. What appeared to be a new frond has now turned into something quite different. It appears to be a stalk that might produce seeds but I have seen no flowers. It is spindly as it is hidden among the fronds and looks like a hand with extended fingers that have bumps down the length of each of the fingers. I am waiting-impatiently!- to see what might develop but wonder if anyone has any experience with this?

I live in the Chicago area so this is a houseplant that gets western indirect light of which there has been little this winter!
