Identification: Unknown Plant

I have another plant I have inherited from my Dad. It's about two feet wide and just over a foot tall. It is May, and it has just begun to flower. The flowers are very like the leaves, but a different colour. It has been sitting in indirect sunlight, and doing well.

Any help is appreciated.

 

It looks like Bougainvillea spectabilis. Are there little white flowers inside the red bracts?

 

I do recall my Dad talking about Bougainvilleas. This is a good start. Thank you.
