    Greetings all,

I purchased a Cycad at home Depot last year, and it recently passed away. As I was about to empty the pot, I noticed a small green leaf growing from the soil. I figure it must have been in the soil the entire time, as I kept the Cycad inside. It's been four weeks now, and this new plant is growing still.

I have included a picture of the plant here. You can still see the base of the now-extinct Cycad in the middle of the pot.

Does anybody know what this new plant might be?

    Thanks in advance,

    Benoit

    Thank you Saltcedar,

No latex found, perhaps because the plant is still small? Apart from the stem which is not quite as straight (again mine is only a few inches high), the picture link you included seems to match quite nicely.

Maybe someone else will have an idea, not all Euphorb's have milky sap.

  5. I have a suggestion. It looks like a shrub or such, but it is still in a very small pot and growing around the plant base (crowding) of the dead plant as well. So before it can grow upwards more so, maybe it is trying to get some space around the old plant? I'd transplant into a good sized pot, wait and see what treasure you may have. The home depot nursery may have more then one plant mixed in a pot by accident?

It's a Euphorbia hirta I swear! That weed is very invasive in our country. It is also herbal. In our country it's called as tawa tawa.
