Unknown Butterfly

    Good morning:

    I have noticed a lot of butterflies around this year. I have attached a picture of one on my pink poppies and I was wondering if anyone knew what it was? One thing I noticed is that you can see right through its wings.

    Looks like it could be the Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui)

    I found out what it is. It is called Parnassius clodius claudianus

    The painted lady butterfly looks different. I did get a picture of one awhile ago. Please see attached.

    I'm thinking that the translucency of your butterfly's wings is not a natural condition. They look as if they have lost their scales!
