Unhappy epi

    I have several epiphyllum cacti that I grew from seed several years ago. Some of them tend to have leaves - or whatever they are - that look sick as in the attached photo.

    They are watered appropriately and get appropriate sunshine, but I suspect that I am not fertilizing them properly. And they are quite rootbound. Does anyone recognize the signs of some deficiency or some other error in my tending them?

    Could this be corking?

    Are the discolored areas firm or squishy?

    Looks like kind of mechanical damage.
    Do you have pets?
