I've posted the persistent fruits of Crataegus grignorensis before - they are so showy and attractive that it's hard to just not photograph them again. We've posted photos of Franklinia alatamaha several times, but never the fruits or spring buds. I'm not actually sure what I'm seeing in the third photo - is that pointed flower buds, and stubs from fruits?
I'm not sure I get it yet, as the photos above were taken last year in February, and these Franklinia alatamaha photos were taken this year in May, leaves just coming on the tree. It seems that the things in the third photo above are what remained of the fruits after they looked like the one here in the third photo, but this fruit is also from the previous autumn.
