About a month ago I planted a 5' Afgan (Eldarica) Pine in a circle in front of the house. Somehow I didn't really notice when I bought it that there are two Leaders at the top fighting for supremacy. One is about an inch shorter than the other. The tree looks healthy. Should I cut the shorter one or just wait and see what happens? Any ideas would be appreciated.
Unless it looks like there is risk of splitting later. When the tree is small is the time to prevent this.
I'd prune to a single leader. Select the straightest leader, not necessarily the tallest, for keeping.
