We have a 2 year old russian olive we would like to transplant. What is the best time. Now or when it is dormant.
    Thank you

To transplant from the ground to the ground, or from a pot to the ground?

Isn't this a listed invasive weed species in the area? Should it be transplanted to the nearest landfill? (after suitable treatment to prevent it taking over the landfill site!)

Thank you for your opinion. Unfortunately it does not anwer my question. As far as being invasive, I consider any tree to be benificial to the environment. Being deciduous it probably enrices the soil more than any native evergreen tree.
Even an evasive plant can be trimed and maintain as not to encroach on its surroundings.
    Thank you.

The primary invasive species in your region is known as "anglo-saxon"; as for Elaeagnus, you can transplant it now if you like, the weather has been provident for transplanting on the coast lately. Muck it in, give it some mulch, and baby it through any dry spells this fall.
