    Hi,

I am looking to move an already existing cedar hedge. I just moved into a house and I don't like the position of it. The ground is mostly clay and I am probably only moving them back about 2 feet. I am wondering when I should do it and also what procedure I should use to have the best success rate after moving them. Should I dig out all of the clay??

    Thanks
    Russ

Wait until it gets consistently rainy and the growing season is over in November. If you do it before it has been raining heavily a long time the soil will still be workable. If they are growing well in the same soil they are going to be moved into, then apparently there is no need to provide different soil.
