We've just transplanted an eastern redbud...we 'd like to receive some tips for ensuring success.. We've removed the burlap and the soil is compatible. The tree is staked and in a protected sunny location with good drainage. Your tips? Suggestions ? Do's and don'ts ?
As with all tree and shrub plantings should be mulched. Monitor soil moisture and keep moist, both this fall (winter rainy season kicks in during November) and next summer. http://www.puyallup.wsu.edu/~Linda Chalker-Scott/FactSheets/Planting fact sheet.pdf
One thing that comes to mind ... Is is possible that the trunk facing the sunset now, was not facing the sunset before? If so, you may need to shade it with a partial screen next summer, but with many months of mellow light coming up, you may be fine. And this may not even be relative to your situation if the trunk is well protected ~ ~
