    Hello -

I live in Milwaukee Wisconsin, and am looking for advice on the best way to transplant Concord Grapes. They originally were transplanted from Italy, and my family has moved them through the years in Milwaukee. I'd like to have them in my yard and most important my relatives in Montana would love to have them too. What's the best way to get the plants to succeed in transplants to both Milwaukee as well as Montana.

    TIA!

Grapes are easy to propagate from hardwood cuttings taken in late fall or winter, after leaf drop. There's lots of information on the Web about how to do it.

what about now? When the vine is budding, can I try it or will it not work?

I've not tried it this time of year, and it probably won't work. However, it can't hurt to try it. The other thing you can do is to tip layer some of the new shoots this summer. You might have rooted clones by fall.
