I have recently developed arthritis in my right thumb and am finding weeding in particular quite painful. Suggestions for suitable tools would be most welcome. Many thanks. Margaret
http://www.gardenguides.com/2249-m-not-getting-older-m-just-getting-stiffer.html Just wish I had the same amount of energy as when I was Fifty. I prune half a dozen branches and I'm ready for a nap! Incidentally I rarely weed because everything is in beds with 2 or 3 inches of mulch. The occasional weed is easy enough to pull without digging. Pecan seedlings being an exception!
Many thanks Saltcedar. Don't know why I did not think of mulching and I am going out today to buy some coconut mulch. The article is also useful because of the many links it contains to different suppliers. My main problem is that applying pressure to spade and hoe handles etc causes the "ouches". As to the need for frequent naps - I find a zero gravity garden chair to be indispensable. Margaret
This or a Garden Weasel might be just the ticket. Both are foot operated.
