I posted this one last year, but I need more help. I was told this is a tilandsia fasciculata. That would make it an air plant. It's been in soil since we got it about 4-5 years ago. When we first purchased it, it had a beautiful spiky purple flower in the middle. It's never flowered since. I keep it near a east facing window where it gets bright morning sun. I water it weekly and it's been fine for years. My question is how do I get it to flower again, and do you think it is a tillandsia fasciculata? Thanks for the help.
Hailey, I agree with the ID. When you bought it, it was flowering. The mother plant then dies but not before producing some pups. It may then take the pups a few years to flower and the cycle continues... Ed
thanks. I guess I'll just keep waiting for it to produce another flower. Do you know if I can do anything to hurry up the process? Should I keep it in the soil, or maybe water it less? Thanks again.
If you can speed up time.... I usually use some sulphate of potash granules, when it starts to flower. Ed
