Tibouchina urvilleana

    This is really considered a pesty tree in our area but I sure do enjoy the flower. The tree is somewhat leggy and has a tendency to break under it's own weight. It seems to reroot itself continually. It can take over an area fairly quickly. Of course this is at higher elevations. Down below, at sea level we have another variety with a lilac colored flower and smaller leaves which grows more as a shrub that usually maxes out at about 10 feet high.
