Spotted this on a tree I bought a few weeks ago..under stock looks like it’s dying..looks terminal to me! Think I might march it back to where it came from..shame I don’t see Kamagata often..
Good morning R, that doesn't look good at all IMO, any black on a maple trunk often leads to death. Now is it verticulum or pseudomonas syringae ? I think it's too hard to tell at this stage. But if it were mine I would be phoning the supplier and asking about a refund or a replacement. Obviously if it's the latter it is treatable, but do you want to wait and see. Plus if you start treating it, then this may cause any warranty you have to become void. Sorry I don't have good news for you R.
I agree with Derek I’m afraid. What a shame. Like you say Kamagata is quite hard to come by. Hopefully they’ll have another one in stock? I have been to a few garden centres and seen maples in terrible condition. Literally dying, and they just get passed by. Such a waste.
From my experience, that’s a certain death with no hope of saving. Kamagata is a lovely maple with a unique look.
Just thought I would say R, I've just seen that Hippo have a small Kamagata, in case you want to get one.
Thanks D, funny enough I looked this morning and spotted that too.. Tbh I need to go careful..running out of space! I’ll save that for an impulse purchase over the coming months.. I picked up a nice Extravaganza/ Lileeanne's Jewel last week...very nice
Good afternoon J, hope yours are enjoying this strange stuff coming from the sky atm. Been so long I've forgotten the name of it,lol. Your Kamagata is looking special. Spring is it's time. Don't look R.
After my procedure, whilst recovering I can’t haul a watering can around. I need rain. The irrigation system I had was set up a few years back and worked fine for close on 8 years, then the foxs decided to chew on the feeder pipes and drippers trashing the system with a week. Beware the foxes. It’s all set up again and just drip feeds pots and maples in dry shade.
