Summer grafting questions

I am going to try summer grafting. I just have a few questions.

What would my window of summer grafting be here in zone 6b, Virginia? How do you know when is the best time?

I also wondered sources for scion wood. Anyone know a place where I can place orders just for 10-20 pieces of various cultivars?
