Colorful banners adorned with cherry/plum blossoms have been installed along the business district in Marpole in Vancouver. Meanwhile ones with pastel colors and a different design can be found in the business district of Kerrisdale. The blossoms do not have a slit at the end of their petals so I assume they're plum blossoms but then that may be due to artistic license.
The banners I saw on the Burrard Bridge today do have an implied slit at the end. Here's an article about the winning design and the designer in 2016. First Year Student Ryann Carney's Design Selected for the 2016 Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival | Emily Carr University of Art + Design - (ecuad.ca) If my memory is correct, the ones on the bridge now are the same as this one.
i noticed the Burrard bridge banners fluttering in the sea breezes Tue 19 April 2022 beautiful! without pre-reading any info about the design of those bridge banners — it was my impression the lower edge is cut like petals and the fabric flutters … does it really? I don’t know and that’s ok and I like my impression :)
