Hi, I have a dilemma, I have a large southern magnolia tree in my backyard in a townhouse complex. My neighbors/strata feel it blocks sun access to their yards and want it removed. I don't want to cut it down simply to appease neighbors wishing more sun in their yard. Is there anywhere I can reach out to find a group that may want this tree or if there is a service that removes and transplants these trees? This is the second year that I am being pressured and the stress is really having a negative impact on me. I would appreciate any guidance.
Are you even allowed to remove a large tree? In Vancouver, you're supposed to need a permit to do that.
Apparently, "A tree for the purposes of the by-law is defined as having a diameter (width) of 20 cm. or greater, measured at 1.4M above the ground. " Sounds expensive and complicated according to this article : http://buildinginvancouver.com/2015...couver-is-killing-trees-with-its-tree-by-law/
